Vision for Safety

A New Concept in Driver Education to Save Lives

Bangkok, Thailand

15,000 people are killed and hundreds of thousands are injured in road crashes in Thailand each year. 95% of these crashes are caused by human factors. There are two ways to deal with this behavioral challenge: enforcement and education. SDE takes the stand that “education” will have the greatest effect over the long run and has designed two Thai programs to educate drivers on how to reduce their risk and improve their driving habits.

Since 85% of all accidents in Thailand involve motorcycles we have decided to add a new section entitled Motorcycle Safety. The new section is now available. Please See this new section for safety information specific to Motorcyle riding in Thailand.

Learn about our Novice Driver Program and our Professional Driver Program

Safe Driver Education Co. Ltd.’s new concept, called Vision for Safety”, is an educational program for either novice drivers, who want to get their driver’s license or for more experienced drivers who want additional training to reduce their risks on the highway. These Thai language training programs are based on recent research conducted in the USA and Canada concerning driver education and on a three-year extensive research project in the European Union called TRAINER, which outlined a totally new approach to teaching novice drivers.

While Vision for Safety  emphasizes the role of driver vision and attitude in reducing risks and increasing safety, the courses are structured to international standards using car-driving simulators; multi-media training with video, animation, and graphics to gain the students interest and attention; and modern vision screeners to evaluate the student's visual characteristics.

Since driver vision represents 90% of what we do when driving, Safe Driver Education believes that its new program will have a positive effect in preparing drivers for the risks of driving. Take a moment to learn more about either our Novice Driver Program or our Professional Driver Program

Vehicle Simulators are used to prepare students for driving in complex situations

Safe Driver Education Training simulation systems feature a specific Driver Education Curriculum that is recommended by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This system was developed using the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA) program and the TRAINER Suggested Driver training system that was developed for use in the European Community.

Students spend approximately 20 minutes on each lesson. The instructor evaluates the student’s level of understanding and driving skills and selects a lesson plan that is specifically applicable to the student’s driving level. Lessons are compiled of three distinct phases:

  • Introduction — lesson objectives are presented in a multimedia format to introduce concepts and proper procedures to students. The introduction session is supervised by a qualified instructor
  •  Practice Sessions —students are able to practice performing proper driving procedures before being scored.
  • Evaluation Sessions — students apply the knowledge and skills learned in the first two phases and are evaluated on performing the targeted driving skills.

Vision for Safety

Thai driving safety training program for new drivers and experienced drivers that emphasizes driver vision and attitude. It is designed to be interesting for the student and to decrease road related risks, by modifying the driver’s attitude and improving the driver’s skill. Perhaps, by reducing risks we can save a life and make the Thai roads just a bit safer for all users.

The Vision for Safety driving education program is being offered in Thailand by Safe Driver Education Co. Ltd. Our courses are in the Thai Language.
